Lifelong love of knitting .
Hello! I’m Alice, the hands and heart behind Balnain Bears. I’ve been knitting since I was four years old-over five decades of turning yarn into treasures. While I’m relatively new to spinning, I’ve embraced the art with passion, transforming raw fleece into soft, sturdy wool that gives each bear its soul.
I process local raw fleece into fibre. As well as this, I use fibre that is already for spinning.
From fleece to friend
Every Balnain Bear begins as raw fleece. The fleece is either prepared for me, or I process the raw fleece into fibre. This process is very lengthy, I carefully wash, card, then spin the fibre into lovely wool, ready to knit into my quirky bears & other animals.
